First, there is that winged, incomplete form, seemingly suspended within the medium. Then, the eye is drawn to the red eye piercing through it. The butterfly is no longer quite a butterfly; it becomes a presence, poised halfway between the living and the abstract.

Ochre and blue hues blend into one another, creating an atmosphere that is at once dense and airy. The red of the eye, the only truly assertive element, concentrates the composition's entire tension.

With "The half butterfly", the artist plays with the interplay between what is revealed and what is left to the imagination. The fragmented form suggests a wing, movement, and metamorphosis, without ever confining the work to a purely figurative representation.
