Princess Hanfu

White Chinese Princess statuette.

This white clay sculpture depicts a young Chinese woman dressed in hanfu, the traditional attire of the Han people.

The outfit, deliberately understated, allows the spectacular hairstyle buyao to take center stage. Rising high in an almost architectural structure, long pins radiate from either side of the head, extending into delicate dangling ornaments.

The finely modeled face and the whiteness of the clay further accentuate the delicacy of the craftsmanship.

A refined evocation of the Chinese woman and traditional art, where the hanfu and the adornments tell a story just as compelling as the face itself.
