Pontaniou Collection- 01

This photomontage work illustrates the wandering of a fish in the oldest prison of Brest in Brittany. The Pontaniou maritime prison, also known as the Madeleine building, is the former detention centre of the Brest arsenal built between 1809 and 1814. Exemplary detention centre for its time, the prison was converted into a civil arrest House after the second world war. Then the Center was closed in 1990.

Description: 2 fishes seen from the side about to escape through the open door of the prison.
