Contemporary Painting inspired by Cinema | The mechanics of Images.

Cinema as an industry; the film reel as its mechanical heart. At the center of this abstract canvas, a reel is set within a complex turbine, evoking the gears of a machine designed to manufacture images.

The relief texture heightens this mechanical impression: plaster applied to the canvas, oxide pigments, and oil paint combine to create a dense, tactile substance that straddles the line between painting and sculpture.

A contemporary piece dedicated to the art of cinema, where the cinematic world is revealed as much through the reel itself as throught the mechanical structure that appears to set it in motion.

 

The work is a low-relief sculpture created using plaster on canvas, then colored with oxide pigments. Following a very fine coat of resin, the piece is finished with oil paints.
