Throughout the ages, bees have not only accompanied symbols and beliefs. They have also inspired languages.

There have been many ways to name our dear apis and "bee" is not so old, if you look at  it.

Apart from the so-called vernacular names, through the ages and places, there were some amalgams, not to say confusions, and this until the 16th century, when the natural sciences were still called "Philosophy of Nature".

Thus, even today, even in our dictionaries of the beginning of the 20th century, the shadow of the "honey fly" hangs over our bee.
