Contemporary Painting: The Dangerous Game of Factions in Abstract Art.

In this abstract work, the relief becomes the stage for a confrontation. Two rival factions face off, caught in a game with rules as complex as the power dynamics they enact.

Forms oppose, respond to, and interlock with one another in a composition where nothing appears truly static. Plaster, worked directly onto the canvas and then colored with oxide pigments, creates the forms; a fine layer of resin and oil paint alters the surface of this below-relief.
