Symbolic Canvas: the Impact of Human Activity on the Fate of Bee

Collection "APIS" - Oil on canvas NO.10 - Italian format

Through this painting, the artist wanted to tell what seems to oppose us. Hubert Reeves denounced human activity as a state of war against nature. However, if we win this war, we are lost...

Thus our self-destructive nature is represented on this parchment that is being consumed and on which is inscribed "De Natura Rerum (On the Nature of Things)", handwritten mark of one of the particularities of man. At the foot of this parchment lies a lifeless bee. In opposition to this scene, one can see the inscription "De Natura Regnum (The Kingdom of Nature)" on a surface that seems to be cracking, as if attacked by some infernal fire, the human activity.

But there is still hope, as this bee reminds us, flying, full of life, turned towards nature. This hope is also reminded by this young apple tree shoot (symbol of immortality) which announces resilience.
